Creating New Custom Post Type Page Templates

Hello!

I’m using a few plugins that require page templates to best display information (CustomPress & Events+ by WPMU) and was curious how I would create additional page templates using the current theme framework/setup?

CustomPress lets you create post types and displays them using the default archive pages. When I go to make my custom pages (page-posttype.php) they don’t work fully or I’m still pulling Blog Archive information rather than the custom post type information I’d like.

Are you familiar with these plugins, is there a way to make the theme play nicely with them?
