Adjusting Social bar at very top

Interested to know where to go to adjust this bar. I have two ideas I’d like to try:

1.) Eliminate the top bar entirely and make the page flush with the top. Right now I can just turn all the social sites off in the theme options and that does eliminate the bar but it leaves a 5px margin at the very top where it used to be. How do I eliminate that top-menu-bar up there so the page is flush. And out of curiosity why do designers tend not to make everything flush with the top or the sides? It seems something I have to change on almost every design

2.) I want to put 3-4 social icons but I want them offset a bit so they aren’t at the very top pushing the rest of the page down. Like offset them 30-50px so they are floating on the main menu bar on the right
