Demo Portfolio page?

I’ve tried so many combinations to try and get my page like the demo portfolio page. but for the love of god I can not do this. my “Latest Updates” always stick to the right of my page and going vertical, even if I use the horizontal block.

Also my parallax box with animated box, how do make it a certain size like on the demo version?

Finally? the demo slider at the top is that all done in layer slider? or does it use highlight block as well?
