Summary post footers custom color / image by author?

Been looking around for a plugin, but wasn’t sure if there was a native way to do this in-theme – If I have a page that aggregates post summaries (by category, author, whatever) the author, # of comments and tags appears in a thin footer.  Is there a way to customize the footer color and/or other options such as adding images JUST to replace the default look of those footers?

I’m using the Fancier Author Box plugin, which I’m happy with for the bio boxes on the full-post pages – I’m only asking about the summary footers…
