Feature request: Disable featured image option in posts

Sorry, that I’m having all of these feature requests, but since our site launched so many practical things are coming to light.

There needs to be a way to disable the featured image area and date for post pages. You may not always want to show a featured image. For example, I have videos that I’m showing, and all I want is the video. To have to place a large featured image above it is not needed, especially when the video and the featured image are usually the same thumbnail image.

Or, there needs to be a category option for choose this for the posts inside the category.

Currently, I’ll have to hide it using CSS for each post.
