500 error when selecting the theme

After uploading the theme via FTP and selecting it, my entire wordpress site and admin config can not be reached and throws error 500. In order to even use wordpress, i need to delete the site and reinstall it.

Things ive tried:
Deleting and creating a new htaccess file
changing my upload allowance

Im tearing my hair out trying to figure this out and can not seem to get it. Im using WP 5.1.1 and PHP version 7.
