Arcane Demo Importer Not working

I’ve literally tried everything including ripping apart the importer zip to get a hold of the content.xml file and the homepage folder and doing it manually.
Installed the WP Importer plugin as well and tried it that way. It’s a straight fresh install of WP on hostgator but for some reason it just absolutely refuses to do it automatically (Manual install left a lot broken)
using latest version of WP and Arcane downloaded today.
