Permalinks error

Hi,
I have a permalink error in my install.
I installed the theme in binary mode via ftp.
I then activated the theme, and installed the plugins i knew there was required (theme didn’t announce anything required).
I then 1-click imported.
After that no links were working on the website at all.

I tried troubleshooting by disabling all plugins (didnt work)
I tried changing the permalink structure (couldn’t do that, since it moved back to $postname$ automatically)
Swtiched theme and changed permalinks, and that fixed the error.
