Steam Login and Steam Graphics

My Steamlogin isn’t working. Steam registers Api based on web address that a person enters. I’ve taken the API key and inserted into the field on theme options and when going to the main page (logged out) I hit the sign-in with steam and it just redirects back to the homepage.

AFAIK should there be a window popout “link steam to this account” or something of that nature? Also How can we go about changing the button to fit Valves criteria for steam log-in? At the bottom of the link provided it shows the three applicable buttons to use for steam log-in.
