First-Time Setup for Portfolio Home

Basically, I am trying to get my home page to look and function like this. But instead I am staring at a page with zero content, sliders, etc.

What do I need to do to get at least the demo content functioning as advertised? I am hoping to get the demo content up and running as shown in the demo page and then swap it out for my own custom content, images, news, blog, etc.
