Having issues with registration

Hi
Seems no matter what I do I am unable to add a menu item “register or registration” for that purpose for people signing up.
I can manually open the mywebsite/user-activation/ page but when I manually type mywebsite/user-registration/ page I get an error 404 been trying this for 2 days now.
The register and sign in buttons on the top right of arcane theme worked fine and were there for potential members but like I said the register button has just vanished but the login button is still there.
Also when I create a registration button on the main menu nav bar it doesn’t work at all in fact most don’t work.
feel like going back to IPB but that’s died lol
